After a seriously successful private beta, Parallels Server Beta2 is here...and its PUBLIC! This means that anyone can hit the beta site, register, and download the code immediately. Lots of new stuff in this beta:
• A Full Bare-metal Hypervisor that allows users to run multiple virtual machines directly on the host physical machine’s hardware, without depending on a host OS. This is for you Win/Lin guys only (sorry, Mac-heads), and it provides users with the fastest, most stable virtual machines possible.
• An Integrated Toolset that makes working with virtual servers easier and more productive. The toolset includes: Parallels Tools, a set of helpful add-ons that make working with virtual servers easier and more productive, and Parallels Transporter, a built-in, wizard driven migration tool that can move the entire contents of a real machine to a virtual machine. You probably recognize these from Workstation and Desktop.
• Virtual Support for 4-way Symmetric Multi-processing (SMP), which lets users assign up to 4 virtual cores to a virtual machine for exceptional performance under heavy workloads. 2-way SMP is also supported, giving users an unsurpassed level of virtual machine customization.
There's more information and a link to download on the Parallels Server Beta Page. Happy testing!

And no support for OS X virtualization yet. But there is no info about this "issue" on pages or in documents :(. You must find it yourself.

I wonder why the bare-metal hypervisor is not available on the Mac.. could you give us a little bit of info on it? Maybe it's an EFI thing?

Congratulations on the beta! Can you give us some clarification on the bare-metal hypervisor bullet? I have it installed and while it will install on bare metal (meaning you don't need an OS on the box prior to install) it looks like it's just hosted on CentOS that gets installed as part of the process. This would lead me to believe it's a bare metal install of a hosted hypervisor. Can you help me to understand the bare metal aspects of the hypervisor itself.
