Although the Switch to Mac Edition buzz has largely passed, Parallels continues to stay in the news. Four great tech blogs have some thoughts to share on Parallels. Here's a roundup of what they're saying:
1) John P. Mello Jr. at MacNewsWorld (who thinks Parallels is still HQ'd in Switzerland. We're in Renton, WA) talks about luring Windows users away from PCs and onto Macs. He has a couple mentions of Parallels as integral to this process.
"A number of software solutions quickly appeared in the market to take advantage of the new solution to the switching conundrum, but one from Parallels, headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, swiftly pulled away from the others.
Called "Parallels Desktop Switch to Mac Edition" (US$99), the software is clearly aimed at getting Windows users who are buying Mac boxes."

2) StudentBloggers.org reminds us all about the Parallels Mac to School photo contest!
"The game is simple: just go to http://mactoschool.parallels.com/ and click the thumbnail of the Parallels logo to get the full size image and print it out. Then, they and send Parallels a picture of themselves holding up the image some place cool – like at a concert, at the park, on school campus, standing on a mountain…anywhere they like! Creativity is the key! Parallels would like to invite all college bloggers to promote this contest and participate!
When you have your picture, just send it to Tim: tdeal@parallels.com.
3) David Marshall's great column "Virtualization Report" at InfoWorld.com talks about Parallels' recently updated Windows and Linux versions. Full article here, snippet below:
"Parallels Inc., perhaps best known for its Mac-based virtualization software, recently renamed and updated its desktop virtualization application for Windows and Linux users. The company claims this new version should be able to run some applications as much as eight times faster than its previous version.
Parallels Desktop 4 for Windows and Linux was released shortly after the company announced a special bundle of Parallels Desktop 4 for Mac...this latest version of the Windows and Linux virtualization product takes a lot of the technology and lessons learned from its Mac sibling."
4) Jimmy Hayes at iCreate Magazine: from our friends across the Atlantic, Hayes gets his hands on Parallels' Switch to Mac Edition and likes it. A lot. Review here.
"What with the upgrade to the site and the excitement that ensued, we forgot to let you know about a really great product that has come our way from the good people at Parallels.
Parallels has now released their all-in-one solution to help users make the switch from PC to Mac. The included software and cable lets users connect their old PC to their new Mac and import the old machine onto the new one. This way, no files are lost and users can begin learning OS X without fear of forgetting anything they had on their old computer. In addition to the software and cable, Parallels are also offering some excellent video tutorials to walk people through the differences in the two systems so they can learn how to do all the basics like set up email and get online."
