How does one get their upgrade today? It says existing users can get NOW kind of thing. I don't see a spot where to get my key anywhere. (I purchased 6 about 2 weeks ago + the 'free upgrades for six months' thing)

Now I remember why I had stopped using Parallels. I always ended up having to constantly upgrade.

So after about 2 months now if I want to get an upgrade I have to pay an additional $49 on top of the $79.

I am really disappointed with how Parallels handle the free upgrade for those who already bought Parallels 6. Parallels 7 free upgrade should be given to those who bought Parallel 6 on or after OS X Lion release not on August 1st. The only reason I bought the full version 6 because my existing version did not work. I upgraded hoping that Parallels will update 6 to be more integrated with Lion. But now you want me to pay $50 for the upgrade and Lion integration?! And given the history of how you handle iOS app I bet when 7 is release you will no longer support 6.

Hey guys, I'm happy to discuss this with you. Please email me at akenepah@parallels.com to go over things in detail.

TOM - check out http://www.parallels.com/keyfor7 for your complimentary upgrade.

Thanks!

I bought PD6 on July 22. Paid immediately after an hour of trial run. Now I have to pay another $50. Customers got punished because they didn't hold up until Aug.1...

And I know P6's bugs will never get fixed, because you'd like to force your customers to pay again for P7 to solve old issues. Fine, I'm leaving...

And you know why they picked August 1? Because, their return policy says:

Quote:
Within 30 days of your product download purchase, you may request a full refund from Parallels for any reason. We cannot accept returns more than 30 days after your purchase.

Today is Sep 1. Exactly a month! Got it? If they make the date Aug 2, people could ask for refund, and buy P7 instead of paying upgrade fee.

They make it Aug 1 so there's no way you can ask for refund.

So mean to force people paying that much!

Hey Wallace, we just sent you an email. Please get back to me ASAP.

Thanks,

damn, bought mine on 21st July :(
and Parallels 6 on Lion *EATS* Ram for breakfast....so it can sleep the rest of the day (meaning running XP for 1 hour then I need to reboot, cool off etc.) and this being a brand new machine...
*disappointed*

This is outrageous. $47 per year for upgrades each of the last 3 years and now $100 this year. Not only that but it was less than two months apart. I feel cheated. You told me Version 6 was needed to be compatible with Lion so I purchased it. Less than two months later you tell me I need to purchase Version 7. I now have a real trust issue. Will begin looking for an alternative and will suggest same to those considering Parallels in my sphere of influence.

I bought mine on 17th of July! This blows!
I have never heard of only including a 30 day window for a free upgrade. So my copy will cost me $130 because I didn't know to wait 15 days for an upgrade I didn't know about.

Hey Bob/ Daniel - just emailed you both. Please get back to me ASAP. Dave - feel free to email me at akenepah@parallels.com to discuss.

Major bummer that i bought V6 the 24th of July.. :( Really enjoying this great piece of software though.

So I can buy Parallels 6 for $45 on Amazon right now and get a key for 7? Niiiice . . .

I see that student upgrade pricing is advertised, but I cannot find a link to order and download that upgrade anywhere. Help!

September 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMark

Would love to purchase parallels 7, but at the student discount, is that possible?

September 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNick

It is very poor customer support for a company well knowing that Lion was to be released and that we would all need the latest version of Parallels 6 for it to run to now offer Parallels 7 with Lion integration. Knowing Lion was due out why did it take so long to get this version ready and now charge so much for users to upgrade. Also knowing that Version 7 was in the works why not give users the chance to know that the new version would be coming soon. I am starting to think that Parallels is as bad as Intuit with them taking advantage of MAC customers. Just because we own MAC's does not mean we are wealthy and can afford to pay for upgrades all the time. Also why does Parallels cost $49 for an upgrade and Lion a complete OS only costs $29.99. How ridiculous is that. I use Parallels for 1 piece of software that is not available on OSX, Mitchel-On-Demand Automotive service manuals. This treatment will continue to push users away from your software.

I just bought Parallels 6 a few days ago. I suppose to get Parallels Mobile for "free" and the box is also showed "NEW! Access from iPad".
But, when I try to download from AppStore, I have to pay "$4.99".
This is ridiculous.

September 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTong

I bought my copy yesterday via the student discount found in your website. Will i be able to upgrade for free? because you have on top for requirements that student keys get the update free then at the bottom of the page states you dont get the free update? what is this about? and when will the keys be handed out?

September 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterWill

I purchased the upgrade from Parallels 6 to 7 on the new feature where Windows can access the Mac webcam (iSight). However while I get the security message (Allow access to camera), the image is black.

A complete waste of time!

September 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNiall

So hacked off with this. Paid to get Parallels 6 for it to work Lion at the end of July and still don't qualify for a free upgrade because I jumped on board too early.

Offering free upgrades only for purchases from 1st August is tight.

Hey guys - please email me at akenepah@parallels.com to discuss. Anxious to get this resolved!

September 2, 2011 | Registered CommenterGabe

Nice, they are deleting comments as well.

Fortunately they don't control all the forums where people discuss Mac software and support.

Don't bother emailing, he will just tell you tough luck.

September 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRobert Gusek

Hi Gabe,
You asked me to provide the key and billing info, i sent to ya about 30 hours ago but never got a response. So can we get free upgrade or not? I strongly suggest you revise the upgrade policy: people who bought P6 after July 20 (Lion official release) should get free upgrade.
You could check out those forums & blogs: Engadget, Macrumors.com. Tons of angry people (same situation as me, who bought P6 just a few days earlier than Aug 1) are complaining. Please take it very seriously...customer loyalty is hard to earn but very easy to lose.

September 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterWallny

Hi Andy,

Are those who purchased a competitive upgrade from VMware Fusion eligible for the free upgrade to v7?

Cheers,
Chris

September 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChris

Apparently, they decided to delete the comment I left. Can't handle the truth then?
