This Week's #AppleChat: A Very Special Leap Day App Chat!

"There's an app for that", a rare iconic slogan like, "Where's the beef?" or "That was easy" which has grown to be a staple of a brand's identity. So much so, that Apple was even been granted a trademark for their witty slogan in 2010. Ever since the release of the original iPod Touch and the iPhone, the App has been a central focus for those living within the Appleverse. With the rumored upcoming release of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5, we thought it best to talk about ... Apps! Will this next generation of mobile devices unlock another level of App technology? Or are we already beginning to reach the ceiling of potential?

Also, to celebrate Leap Day, we will be helping two (2) lucky #AppleChat-ers make the "leap" from PC to Mac with a free copy of Parallels Desktop 7 AND the Parallels Mobile App! To enter, all you need to do is tweet during the chat using the hashtags #AppleChat and #ParallelsLeap and you are automatically entered to win. Join us to share your thoughts about your favorite Apps, and the chance to walk away a big winner, Wednesday February 29th at 11 am PT!

This Week's #AppleChat: iPad 3 – The What, How, and When…

The iPad 3 rumor mill is heating up with Bloomberg and CNET both speculating on a potential March release date. Additionally, both sources are reporting that the upcoming tablet, "will sport a high-definition screen, run a faster processor, and work with next-generation (LTE) wireless networks". As tablet technology continues to evolve, it is also being integrated deeper within the workplace and our daily lives. Will the iPad 3 allow the tablet industry to turn the corner from content consumption to content creation, or will we continue to rely heavily on desktops and laptops? Join us to share your thoughts about the iPad 3, tablet industry, and a good time, Wednesday February 15th at 11am PT.

Every other week a variety of colorful, insightful, and friendly people get together on Twitter to talk about Apple Inc related topics. We like to call this bi-weekly meeting of the minds, #AppleChat! Discussed during the past chat was everything under the umbrella of Apple products in education including: barriers Apple may experience, current examples of Apple products in education, and potential future ways products can be integrated into education! The discussion this week really took off with a wide range of insights and opinions from our audience. Want to add your voice to the conversation? We'll be back at it again on Wednesday 2/15/12 at 11am PT! Here is just a sample of the discussion:

This Week's #AppleChat: Apples in the Enterprise and a Giveaway!

Have you heard? Apple products may be soon invading a workplace near you. According to John Paczkowski of All Things D, "the company (Apple) is expected to sell $10 billion worth of iPads and $9 billion of Macs to business customers in 2012 ... 68 percent and 45 percent increases, respectively, over 2011". How is Apple doing this you ask? The most interesting piece of this puzzle is that reportedly Apple is not formally supporting the surge within the enterprise market; employees are the power behind this push. All signs point towards 2012 being a big year for Apple products in the workplace, but is this push the real thing or a bunch of hype?

Aside from providing a place for great people to tweet about great products, we wanted to thank our #AppleChat-ters this week by giving away a copy of Parallels Desktop 7 to one lucky participant and an $800 ticket to the MacIT Conference (January 26 - 28 in San Francisco, CA) to another! To enter, all you need to do is  tweet during the chat using the hashtags #AppleChat and #enterprise and you are automatically entered. Join us to share your thoughts about Apple in the enterprise and potentially walk away a great prize, Wednesday January 18th at 11am PT.

Here are a few questions we will discuss in this week’s #AppleChat:

1. Does your workplace provide or plan to provide Apple products for work related items?

2. Does your workplace allow you to use personal Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) for work related items?

3. How do you see 2012 shaping up for Apple in the Enterprise?

4. Do you foresee Apple eventually replacing the PC as the #enterprise standard?

This Week's #AppleChat: All things Apps

There's no question about it, Apps are becoming a fundamental way of how we are computing these days. They are prevalent everywhere - whether you're on a Mac, PC, Chromebook, Windows 7 Phone, iOS, Android etc. You know this. This isn’t anything new. What’s new is how they’re being presented, all seemingly modeled after Apple’s success from their iOS devices. The upcoming Windows 8 operating system apparently has a new UI (called Metro) that displays applications as tiles for quick and easy access while allowing toggling between a classic Windows look. Sound familiar?

So that begs the question, are we all going the way of App-centric interfaces? What do you think?

Discuss this topic with us for a chance at a Parallels Desktop 7 license!
